After power-on, ping each IP address from a laptop on the management VLAN to confirm reachability. All addresses must respond before signing off.

Installation

Step-by-Step Procedure

Follow each step in order for each rack. Do not skip steps. If you encounter an issue at any point, contact the NOC before proceeding.

01

Unpack & Inspect Hardware

Carefully unpack all equipment from shipping containers. Inspect each item for visible damage. Verify serial numbers against the equipment inventory above. Photograph any damage and report to noc@ramo.io before proceeding.
02

Install Rail Kits

Install the inner rail slides on each server chassis first. Then mount the outer rails in the rack at the designated rack unit positions. Ensure rails are level and securely fastened. Test slide action before mounting servers.
03

Install Cable Management Panels

Mount horizontal cable management panels at the designated rack unit positions (see each rack's layout above). These provide clean routing paths between equipment groups and maintain proper airflow.
Applies to: R01C02
04

Mount Servers in Rack

Slide each server into its designated rack unit position (see each rack's layout above). Secure with front mounting screws (two per side). Verify the server is fully seated and level. Install servers from bottom to top within each rack. Note: JBOD shelves ship as empty chassis — drives are shipped separately. After each shelf is mounted and secured, install drives per the Drive Installation Manifest.
05

Mount ToR Switch

Mount the top-of-rack switch at its designated position using the included rack ears. Install at the top of the rack for optimal cable routing to all servers below.
Applies to: R01C02
06

Route & Connect Power Cables

Connect each server to both PDU-A and PDU-B per the power plan for each rack. Use redundant power supplies where available. Route power cables through the vertical cable management on the rear of the rack. Label each cable at both ends.
07

Route & Connect Network Cables

Connect management and data network cables per each rack's network plan. Use Cat6A for management connections and DAC/fiber as specified for data connections. Route through horizontal cable management panels. Label each cable at both ends with port designation.
08

Verify Physical Installation

Walk each rack front and rear. Confirm all servers are secure, all cables are properly routed and labeled, no cables are kinked or under strain, airflow paths are clear, and blanking panels are installed in unused rack units. Blanking panel targets: R01C02 (~28 panels, U1–U24, U37–U40), R02C02 (~6 panels, U17/U20–U23/U40). R01C01 is fully populated — no blanking panels needed.
Verification

Power-On & Verification

Power on equipment in the order listed. Wait for each device to fully boot before proceeding to the next.

Once all checks pass, confirm readiness with the NOC via email to noc@ramo.io with subject line: "MOP-2026-0318-IAD — Racking Complete"
